UniGraphic Field Trip

Members of the Bookmakers and Dreamers Club took a field trip in the fall of 2008 to UniGraphic in Woburn, MA to learn how the giant book would be printed. UniGraphic is one of the largest commercial printers in New England and President Bob Quinlan welcomed club members and led a personal tour of the facility. The students learned that each side of a 10 ft. by 12 ft. page (there will be 500 double-sided pages in the book) will take a maximum of 25 minutes to print, depending on the color content and percentage of the page that will be devoted to print versus accompanying graphics. They also learned how UniGraphic developed a process for binding and completing a cover for the huge tome.
